Science in Cans
This film was made in 1964 at a time when “oil” paints were the norm.
Duralex pioneered many new products into a world run by giant paint companies seemingly unaware of the harmful effects of paint solvents. Duralex realised that the industry should formulate their products to use water instead. We made the world aware of what is now called V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compounds).
Duralex, from its beginning in 1946, set an example by producing many water thinnable paint products - one of which was Aquanamel, the world’s first acrylic gloss paint in 1960.
Production facilities, exposure racks and laboratory today are now modern and up to date.
